== Early life and education ==

George Roller was born on September 23, 1946, in Tuscola, Illinois as one of four children. He was a 1964 graduate from North Miami Senior High School in Miami, Florida. He returned to Illinois for college, graduating in 1968 from the University of Illinois with a B.A. in English and a minor in French.
After moving to Florida in 1968, he graduated with an M.A. from the University of Miami in American Studies in 1973 and earned his J.D. from the University of Miami Law School in 1978.〔("Evangelism on Capitol Hill" ) McLean Weekly for February 8, 2014; retrieved on February 22, 2014〕
